“But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) 7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:6-10)
According to Romans 10:8, the Word of Faith must be put in two vital places in your life – your mouth and your heart. This is because what you put in these two places will affect the course of your life. Whatever you establish in your heart and in your mouth will influence your life’s outcomes.
Your Heart is the “Seed Store” of your Destiny
Your heart is like a storehouse where seeds of your future are stored. Therefore, what you put in your heart today is what will determine what you harvest in your life tomorrow! This is why the Bible says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23). In other words, the issues of your life (i.e. the forces that determine your life’s outcomes) flow from your heart. So, whatever you put in your heart is what you are going to experience in your life! The Bible also says that “as you think in your heart so are you” (Proverbs 23:7). This means that what you meditate in your heart will be what manifests in your life!
Your Mouth is the “Seed Sower” of Your Destiny
Your mouth is like a sower of the seeds stored in your heart. The Bible says, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” (Matthew 12:34; Luke 6:45). What you say with your mouth today is a seed sown, and will turn into a harvest in your life tomorrow! This is why the Bible says, “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Proverbs 18:20-21).
It is therefore very important that you carefully consider what you think in your heart and what you say with your mouth. Training yourself to put the Word of God in those two places will help you to live and walk by faith as the Bible says Christians should do (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38; 2 Corinthians 5:7). And living and walking by faith will help ensure that you live and walk victoriously in this world! (1 John 5:4).
