“And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:36-37)
As long as we are in this world, we are going to face naturally impossible situations from time to time. When such impossible situations are contrary to God’s Word, we must be determined to have God help us turn them around and line them up with His Will for us! This is the way God wants us to live as His children here on earth. This is why the Bible says that “the just shall live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrew 10:38). And as it is written, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4). Therefore, God expects us to overcome impossible situations that we face in this world, by our faith in Him, if such situations are contrary to the promises that are contained in the Word of God!
In Luke 1:36, Elisabeth whom people called barren became a mother in direct fulfilment of God’s promise in Deuteronomy 7:14 that says, “Thou shalt be blessed above all people; there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.” This clearly shows that God’s Word is the final authority in our lives! God’s Word works with the Power of the Holy Spirit to change contrary situations and line them up with God’s Will for us! However, for this to happen, faith in God’s Word is required. Hebrews 11:11 says, “Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.” Faith is what connects us to the miracle-working Power of God! (Mark 5:25-34; Luke 5:17, 20).
To turn your impossible situations around, do the following:
Steadfastly Believe God’s Word
Steadfastly believe God’s Word that applies to your need because the Bible says that “if you can believe, all things are possible unto you” (Mark 9:23; Matthew 17:20). Genuine faith is always steadfast in its believe of God’s Word and its hope of the fulfilment of the promise contained therein. Genuine faith will neither waver nor quit. Actually, it is the steadfastness of faith that overcomes the devil who is the one behind the contrary situation! (1 Peter 7:8-9; Luke 22:31-32; Ephesians 6:16)
Patiently Continue In Prayer
Patiently continue to pray, using God’s Word that applies to your need. The truth is that without patience, faith cannot continue steadfastly unto the victorious end! It is patience that helps faith to bear up under pressure! It is patience that helps faith to possess the fulfilment of God’s promise! This is why the Bible says, “And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” (Hebrews 6:11-12). Also, “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” (Hebrews 10:36). And, finally, as Jesus said, “… men ought always to pray, and not to give up.” (Luke 18:1).
